MEDIZINICUM Hamburg sets new standards with upgrade of iCT scanner

MEDIZINICUM Hamburg has upgraded its iCT scanner to the latest state of the art with the advanced iPatient software upgrade. This upgrade not only considerably improves the calculation and reconstruction speed, but also enables a significant reduction in the radiation dose thanks to the innovative model-based IMR (Iterative Model Reconstruction) reconstruction algorithm.

"With the new upgrade, we can reduce the radiation dose by 60-80% and at the same time improve low-contrast detectability by 43-80%," explains Dr. Ahmadi-Simab, Head of the Medizinicum. "This not only means increased safety for our patients, but also a significant improvement in diagnostic image quality."

Another key benefit of the upgrade is the improved cybersecurity. By implementing the latest IT security standards, the data security of our patients is guaranteed and the medical center remains armed against potential cyber threats.

IMR: New standards in computed tomography

Philips IMR technology sets new standards in computed tomography with its industry-leading low contrast resolution and virtually noise-free** images. These remarkable advances make it possible to better visualize and detect the smallest structures, significantly increasing diagnostic confidence.

Advantages of IMR technology:

Industry-leading low-contrast resolution: Significant improvement in low-contrast detectability, optimized display and detectability of the smallest structures.

Knowledge-based iterative reconstruction technique: Reduction of radiation dose by 60-80% with simultaneous improvement of low-contrast detectability by 43-80% and reduction of image noise by 70-83%.

Virtually noise-free images: The drastic reduction of image noise by 73% to 90% makes structures visible that previously remained hidden due to image noise.

"These advanced technologies enable us to further optimize computed tomography as a radiological diagnostic procedure and offer our patients the best possible care," adds Dr. Ahmadi-Simab.

The medical center at Stephansplatz Hamburg is thus sending a clear signal for the use of state-of-the-art technology in the service of patient care and diagnostic accuracy.

Notes:

*Practically noise-free compared to previous standards.
**Values may vary depending on the specific examination and patient constellation.

Description

IMR sets new standards in computed tomography with first-class low-contrast resolution and virtually noise-free* images. In addition, Philips IMR offers high reconstruction speed for the most demanding examinations. Features Industry-leading low contrast resolution IMR features significantly improved low contrast detectability and enhanced diagnostic confidence thanks to optimized visualization and detection of the smallest structures. With these remarkable advances, CT continues to gain in importance as a radiological diagnostic procedure. Knowledge-based iterative reconstruction technique for improved visualization Dose can be reduced by 60-80% while improving low-contrast detectability by 43-80% and reducing image noise by 70-83% compared to standard reconstruction (FBP)** Low dose and high image quality Dose can be reduced by 60-80% while improving low-contrast detectability by 43-80% and reducing image noise by 70-83% compared to standard reconstruction (FBP). Virtually noise-free images Image noise and artifacts limit the ability to display relevant structures. IMR breaks the close link between image noise and dose, ensures virtually noise-free** images (73% to 90% less noise) and thus makes structures visible that previously remained hidden due to image noise.
