From November 2023 we welcome Mrs. PD Dr. med. Viola Andresen, specialist in internal medicine, nutritional medicine and palliative medicine at the MEDIZINICUM Hamburg. With her broad expertise, PD Dr. Andresen will be an excellent addition to the medical team in the field of functional gastroenterology and nutritional medicine.
PD Dr. Viola Andresen studied from 1990 to 1996 at the University of Hamburg, the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, USA, and the University of Lausanne, Switzerland, and completed her studies with the state examination at the University of Hamburg. From 1996 to 2005, her professional career took her through various medical institutions in Germany and the USA, including the Charité in Berlin and the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Since July 2006, Dr. Andresen has been working at the Israelite Hospital in Hamburg, most recently as a senior physician at the Institute for Intestinal Health and Nutrition. She qualified as a specialist in internal medicine (2010) and palliative medicine (2012) and completed further training in nutritional medicine (2013).
Since 2022, Dr. Andresen has completed the renowned and well-known team of doctors in the TV show "Die Ernährungs-Docs" on NDR.
Dr. Andresen has written over 150 original papers, review articles and specialist book contributions in her scientific career and is co-author of several German and international guidelines as well as various specialist books. She is the winner of both the Neurogastroenterology Foundation Research Prize and the Martin Wienbeck Prize for Neurogastroenterology Research. Between 2009 and 2015, Dr. Andresen played a leading role in the German Society for Neurogastroenterology and Motility (DGNM) as deputy chairwoman. She is also a member of various international and German specialist societies and scientific networks in the field of gastroenterology and internal medicine.
From November 2023, PD Dr. Andresen will take up her position at the MEDIZINICUM in the newly founded Abdominal Center .
