Headache - a common complaint
Headaches are one of the most common complaints why patients consult a doctor. The different types of headaches can usually be diagnosed by asking the patient in detail.
About 10% of the population suffer from migraine. Conventional analgesics such as ASA, ibuprofen and paracetamol can be used in acute migraine attacks. Special drugs, so-called triptans, are available for severe attacks. An important part of the treatment is the prevention of headaches. In addition to non-drug measures such as endurance sports and relaxation techniques, various forms of drug treatment are also used here.
Headache - a chronic course of migraine
If the migraine is chronic, there is also the possibility of treatment with botulinum toxin A, which is injected at quarterly intervals. Monoclonal antibodies, which can be injected at regular intervals by the patient himself, have also recently become available. In order to ensure an optimal and individual treatment of headaches, the therapy should be carried out by an experienced neurologist.
