Rheumatology Hamburg-Mitte improves care as of 28.11.2014
Hamburg, 28 November 2014. Patients with inflammatory rheumatic diseases or a reasonable suspicion of the presence of such an autoimmune disease can now find help at the Stephansplatz Clinic - regardless of where and how they have health insurance. For the care of patients with statutory health insurance, the Rheumatology Hamburg-Mitte was founded on the premises of the Stephansplatz Clinic after the granting of a special need authorisation for rheumatology. The experienced specialist for internal medicine and rheumatology, Dr. Margarete Kern (45), is in charge of the rheumatology department.
For many rheumatic diseases, early diagnosis and therapy are important in order to stop or at least slow down the course of the disease. The best chances of a successful therapy then exist in the first weeks and months of the disease, which is why waiting times of several weeks or even months for the first appointment at the Specialist in rheumatology can be very problematic. The special needs authorisation for the provision of health insurance medical care at the Stephansplatz Clinic is a step towards improving the care situation for patients with rheumatic and autoimmune diseases in Hamburg and reducing waiting times.
