Shockwave therapy for the treatment of calcific shoulder, tennis and golf elbow, heel spur and myofascial pain syndromes
- Calcific shoulder (tendinosis calcarea)
- Tennis elbow (epicondylitis humeri radialis)
- Heel spur (Fasciitis plantaris)
- Golfer's elbow (Tendinosis humeri ulnaris)
- Patellar tendinitis ("jumper's knee")
- Bursitis trochanterica (bursitis of the hip bone)
- Achillodynia (inflammation of the Achilles tendon gliding tissue)
- Supraspinatus tendon syndrome (shoulder tendon disease)
- Shin splint syndrome
- Myofascial pain syndromes (muscle tension disorders, trigger point treatment)
Scientific studies prove the high efficiency of focused shock waves in tendinosis calcarea, epicondylitis humeri radialis, fasciitis plantaris and pseudarthrosis. Focused shock waves are increasingly used for the diagnosis and treatment of myofascial trigger point syndrome.
The use of radial shock waves is preferred for indications close to the surface. They diverge after their introduction and lose their energy with increasing penetration depth. The pressure curve is long-wave, they cannot be focused into the depth. The energy flux density reaches the highest values in the near-surface area.
