Hamburg, 15 September 2015: Dr Jörn Klasen joins the diagnostic and therapeutic spectrum at Stephansplatz Hospital as of 1 October 2015. So far, Klasen has headed the Institute for Individual Holistic Medicine at the Asklepios Westklinikum Hamburg, before which he was head physician for internal and anthroposophical medicine as well as palliative medicine there for 15 years. At the Stephansplatz Clinic he will now develop the area of Integrative Medicine, Anthroposophical Medicine, Naturopathic Medicine and Nutritional Counselling.
"With his extensive experience in the field of complementary and nutritional medicine, Dr. Klasen is an ideal addition to our range of conventional medical services," says Dr. Keihan Ahmadi-Simab, Medical Director, looking forward to the cooperation. At the beginning of 2014, he founded the Stephansplatz Clinic in downtown Hamburg under the motto "Together for Better Medicine" in order to realise his idea of a perfectly equipped centre for interdisciplinary medicine in which a team of highly experienced physicians work closely together to identify complicated, unrecognised and unclear clinical pictures. It was precisely this idea that prompted Dr. Klasen to relocate his institute from the west of Hamburg to the city centre.
Especially in the fields of rheumatology and gastroenterology there are some areas in which modern high-tech medicine reaches its limits, but serious naturopathic treatments can be very helpful, according to Ahmadi-Simab: "These are, for example, fibromyalgia and irritable bowel syndrome. Complementary medicine can also make very valuable contributions to autoimmune diseases and tumour therapy - not as an alternative to conventional medicine, but as a useful supplement. Other specialist departments represented at the Stephansplatz Hospital will also certainly benefit from Klasen's holistic perspective.
Dr. Jörn Klasen was born in Hamburg in 1951. He studied economics, sociology, curative education (diploma) and medicine. He is a specialist in internal medicine with a focus on gastroenterology, intestinal and liver diseases (gastroenterology/hepatology), a physician in naturopathy and a physician in anthroposophic medicine (GÄD) with a focus on tumour diseases and palliative medicine. As an author of books, he has dealt specifically with the topic of autoimmune diseases from his holistic perspective - a special focus that plays a central role at the Stephansplatz Clinic.
